Executive: Rosatom eyes wind power projects in Nicaragua

BUENOS-AIRES/MONTEVIDEO, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom is interested in wind power projects in Nicaragua and has preliminarily studied the market, President of Rosatom Latin America Ivan Dybov told PRIME in an interview released on Friday.

"We have completed preliminary analysis of the Nicaraguan market from the point of view of an applied business model, taking into account the prices for electric power produced at hydropower and wind power plants," Dybov said, adding that the market is attractive.

Dybov also said that the countries of Central America and the Caribbean Basin are interested in the company building a nuclear science and technology center, similar to the one run in Bolivia, and Rosatom proposed to adapt the project to their needs.

Rosatom is in negotiations with the partners in Argentina on cooperation in safe disposal of nuclear waste and plans to reach an agreement in 2023, the official said.
